Resort Profile For Saas-Fee

A charming alpine village with year-round skiing

Considered by many as the most picturesque resort in the Alps, Saas Fee is a traditional Swiss village surrounded by spectacular scenery, including 'The Dom' - Switzerland's highest mountain. The glacier provides year-round skiing with either late or early season our preference for snow and sun.

The resort is traffic free and chocolate box pretty. However, it does have surprisingly good après-ski.

The ski area favours intermediates but it does have some very good nursery slopes. The pistes are well maintained and served by a typically modern lift system. There is also one of Europe's best terrain parks which is attracting more boarders.

Resort Pros

  • One of the most picturesque settings in Switzerland. Relaxed but lively atmosphere.
  • Car free and family friendly with ideal skiing for beginners and intermediates.
  • Relatively good value.
  • Snow sure

Resort Cons

  • Limited terrain - especially for Advanced skiers.
  • Some of the accommodation is a fair walk from the lifts.
  • The high altitude can bring bad weather and little tree cover.
  • Many any slopes are very shady until later in the season.

Best For

  • Families.
  • Beginners.
  • Intermediates.
  • Those looking for Alpine charm.

Worst For

  • Advanced skiers.

SlopeSeeker Tips

Families with small children should go in late season. Whilst the resort is family friendly, for much of the season, young children will suffer on the shady cold slopes. Also, choose your accommodation carefully as you may have a fair walk to the lifts.
