Resort Profile For Davos

A bit different - a cosmopolitan city surrounded by a large and varied ski area

Davos in Switzerland provides a different dimension to most ski holidays. Whilst the ski area is vast, varied and easily accessible, it is unmistakably a city rather than a ski resort. Some may love it, others will hate it. This said, Davos is quite an attractive city, with plenty of good quality bars, restaurants and accommodation. It also has a huge amount to do for non-skiers.

The ski area is vast, with 300km of pistes across five mountains. There is something for everyone, however, be prepared for a lot of commuting between the five ski areas.

Resort Pros

  • Variety and extent of the ski area.
  • Spectacular scenery.
  • Plenty to do off-slope.
  • Great snowboarding and freeride terrain parks.

Resort Cons

  • The ski area covers 5 mountains so you can spend a lot of time on lifts, busses and trains.
  • Feels like a small city rather than a ski resort.
  • The only return run in to the resort is Black.

Best For

  • Mixed groups.
  • Families.
  • Non Skiers.
  • Snowboarders.

Worst For

  • Those looking for alpine charm.

SlopeSeeker Tips

Make sure you ski the whole area but make sure you have bus and train timetables to hand.
