Resort Profile For Selva and Val Gardena

Selva is the resort most popular with skiers travelling to the Dolimiti Superski and Sella Ronda ski areas in the south Tyrol/Dolomites

The resort is pleasant with traditional Austrian style buildings and a friendly vibrant atmosphere. However, it is a large, busy resort which suffers from relatively heavy traffic. There is a large choice of accommodation with an abundance of quality hotels as well as more basic options to suit all budgets. It is also well served by UK tour operators. The ski area is fairly extensive, with 175km of pistes best suited for beginners and intermediates. Advanced skiers will also enjoy the more challenging pistes, including the World Cup run, the “Saslong” down to St Christina.

Resort Pros

  • Within the vast network of the Sella Ronda and Dolomiti Superski ski areas.
  • Stunning Dolomite scenery provides a different ambience to typical alpine views.
  • Great mountain restaurants.
  • Wide open cruising runs, ideal for intermediates and beginners.
  • Good nursery areas.

Resort Cons

  • Limited terrain for Advanced skiers although what is there is good.
  • Patchy snow cover - although compensated by good snow making.
  • The Sella Ronda can get very crowded, especially on Sundays.

Best For

  • Beginners.
  • Intermediates.
  • Mixed ability families.
  • Those on a budget.
  • Foodies.

Worst For

  • Advanced skiers looking for extensive terrain.
