Resort Profile For Cervinia

High, sunny and family friendly

One of the highest resorts in the Italian Alps, Cervinia sits beneath the mighty Matterhorn. While the town won’t win any beauty awards, the views from the slopes are hard to beat. Cervinia is widely recognised as one of the best resorts for sunny late season cruising combined with good value Italian hospitality. Ideal for beginners and intermediates, more advanced skiers can access the slopes in Zermatt without the cost of staying there. The village is a hotch-potch of a development but it does have a certain Italian charm and a lively après-ski scene.

Resort Pros

  • High, sunny slopes with long cruising runs.
  • The Red 7 is five miles long!
  • Beginner friendly with good nursery slopes and relatively cheap lessons.
  • Linked with Zermatt.

Resort Cons

  • Limited challenging terrain.
  • Fairly unattractive resort.
  • High winds often close lifts and blow the snow around, leaving icy patches.

Best For

  • Mixed ability families.
  • Beginners.
  • Intermediates.
  • Those on a budget.
  • Late season trips

Worst For

  • Advanced skiers.
  • Snowboarders

SlopeSeeker Tips

Make use of the International Ski Pass and ski Zermatt without the cost. However, remember to take sandwiches for lunch, or a credit card for Zermatt's mountain restaurants!
