Resort Profile For Bardonecchia

A traditional Italian town with a varied ski area

Bardonecchia is situated in a pretty valley near to the French boarder. The ski area consists of 100km of slopes split in two – Campo Smith and Jafferau – and linked by a free buss service. Campo Smith is the larger area with a mix of interesting tree-lined runs and long cruising blues and reds, all with a mostly sunny aspect. Jafferau is more exposed with more off-piste opportunities. The town is traditionally Italian with a busy but friendly atmosphere. Popular with Italians, its proximity to Turin means it gets busy at the weekends.

Resort Pros

  • Uncrowded, mainly long cruising slopes.
  • Snowboard friendly.
  • Family friendly.
  • Good access to other ski areas such as the Three Valleys and the Milky Way.
  • Value for money.

Resort Cons

  • Has a slight purpose built feel.
  • Limited terrain for Advanced skiers.
  • Poor snow reliability.
  • Can get busy at the weekends.

Best For

  • Families.
  • Intermediates.

Worst For

  • Advanced skiers.
  • Late season trips.

SlopeSeeker Tips

It can get busy at the weekends, when the locals come in from Turin, with lengthy queues for lift passes. These can be avoided by buying passes at the local train station.
