Resort Profile For Sainte Foy

A quiet charming resort with suprisingly good skiing

Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise is a village in the Tarentaise Valley, 12km from Val d’Isere and on the just off the main road between Val and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. A little gem of a resort, Sainte-Foy has only 4 chairlifts, 15 slopes and accommodation for around 2,500 people. Despite its size, Sainte Foy offers something for everyone, with a good choice of crowd-free, well-groomed pistes plus two dedicated off-piste terrain parks. It is also ideally situated to explore the some 'big' ski areas such as Val d'Isère, Tignes, and Les Arcs, all with in 30 minutes drive. The village is typically Savoie style, based around a small number of bars and restaurants. It has a good mix of accomodation and has remained relatively unspoilt, with recent sympathetic building bringing more modern, quality accommodation to the resort. Other facilities include two spas, both with swimming pools, jacuzzis and saunas as well as a range of massage and beauty treatments. There are also ski shops and a small supermarket.

Resort Pros

  • Excellent value for money from lift pass to bars and restaurant.
  • High grade, uncrowded pistes.
  • Low key architecture.
  • Cult off-piste areas

Resort Cons

  • Relatively limited piste area.

Best For

  • Mixed ability families.
  • Those seeking a quiet layed back atmosphere with traditional Alpine charm

Worst For

  • Party Goers.

SlopeSeeker Tips

Beginners should gain confidence on the Plan Bois run. Advanced skiers should take advantage of the sectioned off-piste zones. Chill out in the sun at the Les Brevettes restaurant.
