Resort Profile For Saalbach
Saalbach is one of Austria's premier ski resorts, with 200km of varied pistes, extensive off piste, and an excellent snow record
The ski area is divided on both sides of the valley. The runs on the north side of the valley (south-facing side) tend to be more popular due to their sunnier aspect. However, the pistes on the south side of the valley (north-facing side) tend to have better snow cover, particularly in late season, as well as more tree-lined runs. Both areas are ideally suited to intermediates. The off-piste is mainly on the north side of the valley where plenty of powder can be found just off the piste. There is also a small snowpark in Hinterglemm, but experienced snowboarders and skiers tend to head to the more popular snowpark in the adjacent valley in Leogang. The resort is made up of Saalbach, Hinterglemm and Leogang. Saalbach is the main village, with lively apres-ski and a good mix of accomodation, while Leogang which is on the edge of the resort is quieter and attracts more families.
