TheObergurgl ski resort in Austria forms part of the Gurgl/Hochgurgl ski area at the southern end of the Ötztal Gurglertal valley. A high altitude resort with snow sure uncrowded slopes ideal for cruising intermediates and beginners. A traditional old village with oodles of Tyrolean charm, Obergurgl attracts visitors who come back year after year. With plenty of quality snow, no queues and a friendly atmosphere it is easy to see why. The accomodation is typically traditional small hotels while the apres-ski is light hearted and quiet, with a good choice of restaurants. The ski area isn’t the most extensive and there is little to interest advanced skiers or snowboarders but this actually adds to its charm.
