Resort Profile For Ischgl
Great skiing, boarding and good-natured après-ski
Situated at high altitude in the Paznaun valley Ischgl is a long time favourite among main land Europeans. The Silvretta Arena Ski area is Austria’s largest with 205km of pistes and provides excellent terrain for intermediates and advanced skiers. The resort, originally a farming village, retains its traditional charm but also hosts many sophisticated shops, bars and restaurants. A pedestrian walkway, chiseled out of the mountain provides easy access from most accommodation to the main centre, amenities and lifts. The après-ski is lively and generally aimed at a slightly older crowd than St Anton. The neighbouring village of Galtur, which is linked by a free shuttle bus, will suit families looking for a quieter, cosier atmosphere.
