Resort Profile For Bad Gastein
Extensive pistes and relaxing spas
The Gasteinertal ski area is one of the biggest in Austria with 250km of slopes and resorts based along the Gastein Valley. Traditionally famous for its spas, the Gastein Valley offers a variety of resort accomodation from a quiet village such as Dorfgastein to the busy resort of Bad Gastein. Bad Hofgastein is our favourite resort but choosing where to stay depends entirely on what you are looking for. Bad Gastein sits at the head of the valley. It has some impressive architecture and is impressively situated in a steep gorge. This however, gives it a cramped feel and it is very steep in some areas. Bad Hofgastein is a modern and spacious resort with a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Ideal for families, Bad Hofgastein’s slopes are connected to Bad Gastein’s and has great facilities including the new Alpen Therme Gastein – a modern health, leisure and wellness centre. Dorfgastein is a rustic village at the entrance to the valley. It has a great rural charm and whilst it is not connected to the main ski network, its own extensive slopes offer some of the best skiing in the area.
